RSP aims to become party that resolves people’s hardships: Balen Shah

ITAHARI: Senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Balen Shah has said that the party aspires to become a political force that addresses and resolves the hardships faced by the people.

Speaking at a program organized by the Rastriya Swatantra Party in Itahari on Tuesday, Shah said it was unfortunate that people in the Tarai districts are unable to consume vegetables produced in eastern hill districts such as Tehrathum and Panchthar.

“Have you had your meal? Where did the vegetables you ate this morning come from? They are imported from across the border. You have not been able to consume vegetables produced in Tehrathum and Panchthar. Even in the eastern Tarai—Jhapa, Sunsari, Morang and Biratnagar—locally grown produce from our own hills is not reaching the market,” he said.

Calling the situation a matter of concern, Shah stressed the need to resolve such structural problems in agriculture and distribution. “This is a hardship. It must be addressed. The Rastriya Party wants to become a party that resolves such hardships,” he added.

He further said that if three or four districts of the eastern Tarai utilize their full potential in paddy production, the country could produce enough rice to meet national demand.
