NUWAKOT: Prakash Sharan Mahat, Nepali Congress candidate for the House of Representatives from Nuwakot Constituency No. 1, has unveiled his election manifesto.
In the manifesto issued for the upcoming parliamentary elections, Mahat has set a primary goal of building a “modern, employment-oriented, educated, developed and prosperous Nuwakot.” Presenting his agenda under the slogan “Not slogans, but results; not promises, but development,” he outlined his commitments to voters across multiple sectors.
Mahat has prioritized infrastructure development, including the construction of the Dobato–Chhahare tunnel road and alternative highway corridors such as Balaju–Ranipauwa–Pipaltar and Titipingle–Chandebh–Kumari–Gachhi. He has also pledged river embankment and erosion control works along the Livu and Tadi rivers, completion of various road sections, and the upgrading of major roads connecting Nuwakot with Kathmandu.
In agriculture, he has committed to expanding modern irrigation systems, ensuring access to fertilizers, seeds and markets, and branding local products such as apples, potatoes, onions, trout fish and honey. He has also proposed the construction of cold storage facilities and guaranteeing fair market prices for farmers.
For tourism promotion, Mahat has pledged to develop areas including Kakani, Suryachaur, Baghamara, Talabu, Panchakanya and Gosainkunda into international-standard religious and adventure tourism destinations. He has also proposed the development of trekking routes and cable car projects to boost tourism potential.
In the education and health sectors, he has proposed establishing a Bagmati Province-level technical and information technology college, promoting quality schools and digital education, and operating a specialist-equipped hospital in Constituency No. 1.
He has also emphasized youth entrepreneurship, skill development in agriculture, tourism and industry, and creating new self-employment opportunities for women. Citing Nuwakot’s proximity to Kathmandu, Mahat said he aims to transform the district into an industrial and commercial hub.
In the manifesto, Mahat stated, “I work for results. I believe in action, not just words. I remain committed to development, good governance, economic and social prosperity of the people, and ending corruption.”
This is the first time Mahat is contesting as a direct candidate from the constituency. He has pledged to utilize his past development experience from other constituencies for the benefit of Nuwakot.
