Kathmandu Valley records rise in minimum temperature

KATHMANDU: The minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley increased on Tuesday morning.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the preliminary reading taken at 5:45 am recorded the minimum temperature in Kathmandu at 11.5 degrees Celsius. However, this is an initial observation.

The official minimum temperature is measured at 8:45 am, and meteorologists say the final reading could dip slightly from the early figure.

On Monday, the preliminary minimum temperature was recorded at 9.0 degrees Celsius, which remained unchanged in the final measurement. Earlier, the minimum temperature stood at 9.1 degrees Celsius on Sunday and 7.5 degrees Celsius on Saturday. On Friday, it was recorded at 12 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists explain that cloudy conditions during the night generally result in higher minimum temperatures in the morning, while clear skies allow temperatures to drop further. Conversely, daytime temperatures tend to fall when it remains cloudy throughout the day and rise when skies are clear and sunny.

Despite daily fluctuations, officials say temperatures are gradually increasing overall as the winter season draws to a close.
