Education Ministry to consult stakeholders on reforms to education consultancy sector



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is set to hold consultations with stakeholders today to discuss challenges facing Nepal’s education consultancy sector and possible policy and regulatory reforms.

The meeting, to be chaired by government spokesperson and Minister for Education Sasmit Pokharel, will bring together office bearers and representatives of various associations involved in the education consultancy industry.

According to the ministry, discussions will cover the current state of the consultancy business, challenges faced by the private sector, measures to promote quality education consultancy services, and potential policy and regulatory improvements.

Representatives from several organizations, including the Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN), Free Educational Consultancy Association Nepal (FECAN), Active Educational Consultancy Association Nepal (AECAN), Educational Consultancy Entrepreneurs Association (AERI), Japanese Language School Association (JALSAN), Nepalese Association of Australian Education Representatives (NAER), National Education Consultancy Association (NECA), EKYAN, NEWA, and NEXA, are expected to participate.

The ministry said the meeting will also seek stakeholder feedback on provisions of the Education Consultancy, Language, Teaching and Preparatory Classes (Operation and Management) Regulations,  as well as other contemporary issues affecting the sector.

According to the ministry, Minister Pokharel has been holding regular consultations with educational institutions, private sector representatives, and other stakeholders in recent months, prioritizing policy reforms and coordination based on their recommendations.
