‘Sweep operation’ by police in Pokhara, 122 people arrested in a single night



GANDAKI: The District Police Office, Kaski, conducted a ‘sweep operation’ last night at five locations in Pokhara and took 122 individuals engaged in illegal activities into custody.

Police Inspector and Officiating Information Officer Ganesh Pandey said that those who created disturbances at night, disrupted public peace and security, and consumed illegal drugs such as cannabis were apprehended.

“Among those arrested, 82 have been found to have consumed drugs, and some were also found with cannabis. A simultaneous sweep operation was conducted in areas including Baidam, Rambazar, Shishuwa, Bagar, and in the area around the District Police Office,” he said.

According to Police Inspector Pandey, 39 people were arrested from the Baidam area, 40 from the Rambazaar area, 20 from Shishuwa, 12 from Bagar and 11 from around the DPO.

A team deployed from the District Police Office and its subordinate police units carried out the ‘sweep operation’.

He said that all the men arrested last night were mostly from the youth group. A few days ago, women who harassed and cheated tourists in the Lakeside area were taken into custody and legal action was initiated against them.
