Exports through Birgunj reach Rs 79.54 billion in nine months



BIRGUNJ: Goods worth Rs 79.54 billion were exported through the Birgunj border crossing during the first nine months of the current fiscal year, according to the Birgunj Customs Office.

This marks an increase of Rs 10.19 billion, or about 15 percent, compared to exports worth Rs 69.35 billion recorded during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Information Officer Uday Singh Bista said exports through the border point have grown steadily this year, driven largely by processed edible oils and manufactured goods.

Refined soybean oil accounted for the largest share, with exports totaling Rs 43.61 billion, up from Rs 36.62 billion in the corresponding period last year.

Fruit juice exports reached Rs 5.84 billion, slightly higher than Rs 5.77 billion recorded in the previous fiscal year.

Exports of refined palm oil saw a sharp rise to Rs 5.24 billion, compared to just Rs 590 million in the same period last year. Meanwhile, refined sunflower oil exports stood at Rs 5.5 billion, down from Rs 6.61 billion a year earlier.

Other key exports included various fabrics worth Rs 2.69 billion and synthetic yarn totaling Rs 1.94 billion, according to customs data.
