BAGHDAD: A wave of drone strikes and missile debris has left multiple casualties across Iraq, Jordan, Syria, and other parts of West Asia, as regional tensions continue to escalate.
In Iraq, an intelligence officer was killed on Saturday when a drone struck a building belonging to the Iraqi intelligence services in a residential neighborhood of Baghdad, officials said.
Kurdish armed groups reported that at least five Iranian Kurdish militants were killed in strikes they attributed to Iran targeting positions in northern Iraq. In a separate incident, Kurdish security sources said an airport guard was killed in a drone attack on Erbil airport.
Officials also confirmed that one civilian died from rocket shrapnel following a strike southeast of Baghdad. Earlier, authorities reported that four people were killed in a strike on a house in the capital, with initial reports suggesting that two of the victims were Iranian advisers linked to Tehran-backed groups.
Jordan reports injuries from debris
In Jordan, security officials said at least 29 people were injured by falling debris from Iranian missiles and drones across different parts of the country. No fatalities have been reported so far.
Injuries reported in Syria
Syrian state media reported that eight people were injured on Monday due to falling debris from exchanges of fire between Iran and Israel.
US casualties across region
The United States has also reported casualties among its personnel deployed across the region. According to US Central Command, seven American personnel were killed in the Gulf and six in Iraq.
In addition, around 200 US military personnel have been injured across seven countries in West Asia since the conflict began. Of these, 10 were classified as seriously wounded, while more than 180 have since returned to duty.
The incidents highlight the widening regional impact of the ongoing conflict, with casualties reported across multiple countries amid continued exchanges of fire.
