KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal, who is in New York, the United States, to participate in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, met with Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay on Monday.
The meeting comes as Nepal continues to respond to the impact of recent floods, with rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts underway in affected areas.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Tobgay shared a photograph of the encounter on social media platform X and expressed Bhutan’s solidarity with Nepal during the difficult period.
“It was a pleasure meeting His Excellency Mr. Shisir Khanal in New York today. Reaffirming Bhutan’s solidarity with Nepal during this difficult time, I extended my best wishes for the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts for those affected by the recent floods in Nepal,” Tobgay wrote.
The meeting between the two leaders took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, which brings together leaders and senior officials from UN member states to discuss major international and regional issues.
