Dhangadhi schools closed due to extreme heat

DHANGADHI: Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City has ordered the closure of all schools for four days as a heat wave continues to affect the region.

On Monday, Education Officer Jayaraj Jaishi issued a notice announcing the temporary closure of schools in response to soaring temperatures. Dhangadhi and surrounding areas have been experiencing temperatures of around 40 degrees Celsius over the past several days.

According to the notice, all community and institutional schools within the sub-metropolitan city will remain closed from Ashad 9 to 12 (June 23–26) due to the ongoing heat wave. The decision was taken after students began experiencing difficulties and health-related problems caused by the extreme weather conditions.

The notice stated that the increasing heat wave could have adverse effects on students’ health and may lead to various illnesses. To ensure students’ safety, the school closure period will be adjusted against the annual summer and winter vacation schedule.

“Considering the adverse effects of the escalating heat wave and the possibility of various health issues among students, all community and institutional schools within this sub-metropolitan city will remain closed for four days, with teaching and learning activities suspended during this period,” the notice said.

The sub-metropolitan city has also urged residents and students to adopt precautionary measures to protect themselves from the heat wave.

Dhangadhi and several surrounding areas have been experiencing intense heat for the past few days, prompting authorities to take preventive measures to safeguard public health.
