UML leaders push for leadership change, urge Oli to step aside

KATHMANDU: Four vice-chairpersons of the CPN-UML have reportedly called for leadership change, urging party chairman KP Sharma Oli to step aside in order to strengthen and reform the party.

At a central Secretariat meeting held on Friday, four of the five vice-chairpersons expressed views emphasizing party restructuring, transformation, and generational leadership transfer. While they did not explicitly use the term “resignation,” their remarks were interpreted as a call for Oli to step down.

According to party sources, only Vice-Chairperson Bishnu Prasad Paudel supported the party chair in the discussion, while the remaining leaders stressed the need for organizational renewal.

A party official said the remaining office bearers are expected to present their views in the meeting on Saturday.
