KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has revoked the party membership of its Bara District President Chandan Swarnakar.
According to a letter issued by the Central Organization Department Secretary Shankar Shrestha, Swarnakar’s membership has been cancelled with immediate effect.
The action follows a complaint filed by four MPs elected from Bara at the party’s Disciplinary Commission, accusing Swarnakar of financial irregularities, weak organizational mobilisation, and alleged support for a rival party’s candidate. Party leaders said the decision was taken based on these allegations.
RSP leaders also informed that the Bara District Committee has been dissolved and a central representative has been deployed to form a new committee.
Meanwhile, Swarnakar has strongly objected to the decision, claiming he has been “politically murdered.” Making the party’s action letter public on Facebook, he wrote that the decision reflects a “conspiracy” and said the final judgment now lies with the people of Mahagadhimai and Bara.
He further claimed that he was removed without a fair investigation and just ahead of the extended district meeting and convention, alleging that the move was influenced by MPs who feared he would be re-elected as district president.
