Westerly and local winds trigger cloudiness and rain activity



KATHMANDU: The influence of westerly and local winds is affecting weather conditions across Nepal, bringing cloudy skies and chances of rainfall in several parts of the country.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, hilly and mountainous regions are experiencing generally cloudy conditions, while most Terai areas remain mainly clear. Heavy rainfall has also been recorded in some districts today.

The division stated that some districts also witnessed heavy rainfall today due to the impact of the westerly and local winds. This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as the rest of the provinces.

The Terai region of Lumbini Province will remain partly cloudy, while the remaining Terai areas are expected to experience mainly clear weather.

There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Similar weather conditions are likely in the Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, including Madhesh Province, as well as in a few places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Lumbini and Karnali provinces.

According to the division, there is also a possibility of a heat wave in the hilly and Terai areas of Sudurpaschim Province, while hot weather conditions are likely in the hilly and Terai regions of Lumbini Province.

Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. The hilly and mountainous regions of the remaining provinces will see partly cloudy conditions, while the rest of the Terai areas will remain mainly clear.

The Division has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
