NC to hold election review in Biratnagar today

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Thapa is leaving for Biratnagar today to participate in the party’s Koshi Province-level election review program.

According to Joint General Secretary Dila Sangraula, the program is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am on Wednesday as per the party’s pre-determined plan.

The Nepali Congress has organized the event to review recent election results, strengthen its provincial organization, and outline future strategies.

The meeting will be attended by central office bearers, central members, the provincial working committee, federal and provincial lawmakers, district and regional presidents, as well as both direct and proportional candidates from the last elections.

Following its poor performance in the House of Representatives elections held on March 5, the party has been conducting similar review programs across the country. Meetings have already been held in Gandaki, Lumbini, Bagmati, and Madhes provinces, with the Koshi Province review taking place today.

Through these programs, the party leadership aims to gather feedback on organizational status from local to provincial levels, assess election outcomes, identify weaknesses, and explore areas for improvement.

The Nepali Congress said discussions will also focus on future political strategy, organizational expansion, active membership, preparations for the 15th General Convention, and ways to boost cadre engagement.

Sangraula added that leadership management and organizational strengthening in Koshi Province will be key agenda items during the meeting.

Party leaders view the Biratnagar program as an important step in shaping the future direction of the Congress in the province, describing the review initiative as part of a broader effort toward organizational revival rather than just an assessment of electoral performance.
