Rising temperatures may trigger heat wave in Tarai areas



KATHMANDU: Weather conditions across the country remain partly influenced by westerly and local winds, with varied conditions in different regions.

At present, the Himalayan region and the hilly areas of Koshi Province are partly cloudy, while the rest of the country is experiencing mainly fair weather. Light rainfall has been recorded at one or two places in Koshi Province.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy.

Other Himalayan areas, along with the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, will see partly cloudy conditions, while the rest of the country will remain mostly clear.

There is a chance of light rain, along with snowfall, at one or two places in the hilly and Himalayan areas of Koshi Province, as well as in parts of the Himalayan regions of Bagmati and Gandaki.

Temperatures are expected to rise this afternoon in the Tarai, as well as in valleys and basins of Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Heat wave conditions are likely in some Tarai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Tonight, light rain and snowfall are possible in parts of the Himalayan region of Koshi Province, while the rest of the country is expected to remain mainly fair.
