158 polling stations classified as highly sensitive in Sarlahi



BARHATHWA: As many as 158 polling stations in Sarlahi have been classified as highly sensitive ahead of the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.

A total of 312 polling stations have been designated across four constituencies in the district. Of them, 158 have been marked as highly sensitive, 131 as sensitive, and 23 as normal.

Chief District Officer Ramu Raj Kadariya, who also coordinates the District Security Committee, said the classification was made after monitoring all polling stations. He added that security arrangements would be planned accordingly to ensure a safe and orderly election.

According to Kadariya, the assessment considered social, political, geographical, and border-related risk factors. Based on the security committee’s recommendations, some polling stations and centers have been relocated this time, said District Election Officer Rishiram Paudel.

Voters in Sarlahi will cast their ballots through 628 polling centers to be set up at 312 polling stations.

By constituency, Sarlahi-1 has 130,871 voters with 78 polling stations and 157 polling centers. Sarlahi-2 has 125,311 voters, with 158 polling centers across 77 polling stations. In Sarlahi-3, 134,412 voters will vote at 159 polling centers set up at 76 polling stations, while Sarlahi-4 has 121,012 voters with 154 polling centers at 81 polling stations.

In total, 511,606 voters: 278,837 men, 232,758 women, and 11 others, are eligible to vote in the upcoming election. The district has added 22,595 new voters since the 2019 election.
