Dashain Tika to be offered to devotees at Muktinath Temple

MUSTANG: Devotees will be offered Dashain tika, jamara and blessings at Muktinath Temple, a sacred pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists, on the occasion of Bijaya Dashami today.

Temple priest Krishna Prasad Subedi said arrangements have been made to offer tika, jamara and blessings to the general public as part of the Dashain celebrations.

On the auspicious occasion of Bijaya Dashami, devotees will receive ‘akshata tika’ and ‘jamara’ (berley shoots) along with blessings, he said. The arrangement is particularly intended for those who are away from their families and relatives and do not have elders or guardians to offer them tika.

The ritual worship of the deity at Muktinath Temple began at 5 am on Dashain day (Wednesday), according to Subedi. The distribution of tika and jamara to devotees will take place immediately after the worship. The ritual worship is expected to last around two hours, he added.
