KATHMANDU: Passport distribution has been halted after a driver set fire to a bus and attempted to take his own life in front of the Department of Passports in Tripureshwor.
The bus fire on the road outside the department has disrupted passport printing and distribution services.
According to the department, the fire damaged the internet cable and disrupted electricity and internet services, making it difficult to print and distribute passports.
The Department of Passports under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued an urgent notice asking applicants who have already submitted their applications to remain patient and cooperate.
The department clarified that passport application collection services will continue as usual despite the technical problems affecting distribution.
The Department of Passports in Tripureshwor said passport distribution services will resume normally as soon as the technical problems are resolved.
