BIRGUNJ: Police have arrested three people with 30 kg of marijuana in Parsa district.
Acting on a tip-off that marijuana was being smuggled, a police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Paterbasugauli, under the District Police Office, Parsa, arrested three people from Malahi Tole of Paterbasugauli Rural Municipality-1 today.
Police fired two rounds in the air while intercepting the suspects involved in the alleged smuggling, said Chakra Bahadur Malla, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Parsa.
The arrested have been identified as Mahesh Sahani, 50, and Nandalal Sahani, 34, both of Paterbasugauli Rural Municipality-1.
During the course of the investigation, police found that Bhuri Chaudhary, alias Bhuti, 75, of the same rural municipality, was also allegedly involved in the smuggling. Police subsequently arrested Chaudhary as well. Further investigation into the case is underway.
