BANKE: Police have arrested a couple in Nepalgunj with more than 107 grams of brown heroin.
A police team deployed from the Banke District Police Office and the Narcotics Control Bureau’s branch office arrested the couple while they were allegedly selling brown heroin in Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-2, according to the District Police Office.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Prati Singh Rathore of the District Police Office said 30-year-old Deshraj Chauhan Loniya and his 25-year-old wife, Pooja Loniya, of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-13 were arrested.
Both have been taken into custody at the District Police Office. They will be produced before the District Court today for further legal proceedings, said DSP Rathore.
Police recovered 107 grams and 550 milligrams of brown heroin, a motorcycle bearing registration number Bhe 6 Pa 3745, and two mobile phones from the couple. They were arrested on Sunday evening.
Meanwhile, police have arrested two more people with 35 grams and 900 milligrams of a brown sugar-like substance in Eklaini of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City.
Acting on information about drug dealing, a police team from the District Police Office and the Narcotics Control Bureau’s branch office searched their house and arrested them.
Police said 30-year-old Mohammad Hasib Ansari and his 23-year-old brother, Sameer Ahmed Ansari, were taken into custody during the search.
The District Police Office said 35 grams and 900 milligrams of a brown sugar-like substance were recovered from their possession and from a drawer in the room. Police also recovered five mobile phones of different brands, a digital scale, and Rs 73,700 in cash.
DSP Rathore said further investigation is underway against both individuals for alleged drug-related offences.
