KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has accused the government of acting vindictively against him. Addressing the UML Central Committee meeting that began on Monday, Oli also expressed dissatisfaction with the election process.
Complaining of continued attacks against him, Oli said he had been targeted by the government, social media, and mainstream media.
“We are facing more attacks than other parties. As the party chairman and leader, I am being targeted even more intensely. Whether on social media or in the media, I am under constant attack,” Oli said.
Claiming that he had been arrested without cause, he accused the government of acting vindictively. “There was vindictive conduct and an arrest made without any wrongdoing. A ‘peaceful’ election was conducted while the country was in a state of turmoil,” he said.
Oli also alleged that while party leaders should have moved forward in unity during the election, activities that created problems for the party originated from within the UML itself.
“At such a time, party leaders should have stood united, but some leaders within our own ranks set out to create chaos within the party. This only exacerbated the problems,” he said.
He noted that party leaders and cadres should have moved forward with a unified spirit and purpose, but instead faced various accusations from their own leaders.
