JHAPA: Dengue infections are increasing across Koshi Province, with Jhapa recording the highest number of confirmed cases, according to the Koshi Province Health Directorate.
Smriti Luitel, a public health officer at the directorate, said 793 dengue cases had been confirmed across the province as of Sept. 19, 2026. The infection has been reported in 13 districts of Koshi Province.
Jhapa has recorded the highest number of cases, with 228 people testing positive so far, followed by Sunsari with 203 cases.
According to the directorate, 122 cases have been reported in Okhaldhunga and 82 in Khotang. Similarly, Sankhuwasabha has recorded 18 cases, Panchthar 44, Udayapur 34, Bhojpur 31, Dhankuta four, Morang 20, Solukhumbu three, Tehrathum three and Taplejung one.
During the same period, 51 probable and two suspected dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in various districts, according to the directorate.
Luitel said the rising number of infections highlights the need to intensify dengue prevention and control measures, including campaigns to identify and destroy mosquito breeding sites.
She urged authorities and communities to step up efforts to eliminate stagnant water and other potential mosquito breeding grounds to help contain the spread of the disease.
