Parliamentary Hearing Committee meeting taking place today



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee of the Federal Parliament is scheduled to take place at 11:00 am today at the Parliament Building in Singha Durbar.

According to the committee’s tentative agenda, the meeting will discuss complaints received regarding the nominees for the posts of Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioner. The committee is also expected to review the action plans submitted by the nominees.

The Constitutional Council, at an earlier meeting, recommended Man Bahadur Karki for appointment as Chief Election Commissioner. It also recommended Dr. Rajiv Subba and Guru Prasad Wagle for appointment as Election Commissioners.

Under the Constitution, the President appoints the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners after the Parliamentary Hearing Committee endorses the nominees.
