KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds are currently influencing parts of Koshi Province, while westerly and local winds continue to affect weather conditions across the rest of the country, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.
The Division reported that the weather is generally cloudy in the country’s hilly and mountainous regions, while most Terai areas are experiencing partly cloudy conditions. Light rainfall is being recorded at several locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.
This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy across the hilly and mountainous regions of the country, as well as in the Terai region of Koshi Province. Madhesh Province and the Terai areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces are likely to witness partly cloudy conditions, while the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces are expected to remain mostly clear.
Likewise, the Division has forecast light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, at several places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi Province and at a few locations in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two places in both the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi Province.
Meanwhile, heatwave conditions are likely to persist in some parts of the Terai districts of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces. Temperatures may also rise in certain areas of the Terai regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the Terai region of Koshi Province. Partly cloudy conditions are likely in the hilly and mountainous areas of Madhesh, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, while the Terai regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces are expected to remain mainly clear.
The Division has also forecast light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning at several places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi Province and at a few locations in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Similar weather conditions are expected in parts of the Terai region of Koshi Province and at isolated locations in Madhesh Province.
Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi Province tonight as well.
It has urged residents in areas vulnerable to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and heatwave conditions to remain alert and follow the latest weather updates and advisories.
