Clashes escalate between communities in Sunagada, Rautahat



RAUTAHAT: Clashes between two communities in Sunagada village have intensified, with the situation remaining uncontrolled three days after it began.

What started as a minor dispute on Thursday night escalated on Friday into arson and property damage.

According to police, the conflict arose over music played during a wedding ceremony. On Thursday a community held a wedding with music, which reportedly drew objections from the a another community, sparking verbal disputes. Tensions increased further when music was played during nighttime prayers at the mosque, leading to incidents of physical assault.

On Friday morning, stone-throwing erupted again between the two groups, further heightening tensions. Local authorities noted that the clashes are gradually spreading to nearby areas.

Police have stated that security measures have been tightened in response to the unrest.
