Power cuts scheduled in several areas of Kathmandu today

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has announced scheduled power cuts in several areas of Kathmandu today due to maintenance and infrastructure upgrade works.

According to a public notice issued by the Authority, electricity will be disrupted in Sinamangal Chowk and the Tilganga area under the Baneshwar Distribution Center. The power cut is necessary after a pole in front of Tilganga Eye Hospital collapsed, requiring maintenance of the 11 kV transmission line.

Power will be suspended in Tilganga, Prakash Sanyas Ashram, Sambhumarg, Gaushala and surrounding areas from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Similarly, electricity will be cut in Tinkune, Garigaon, Sinamangal and areas within the airport vicinity from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm.

The NEA has apologized for the inconvenience caused to consumers. Meanwhile, electricity will also be disrupted in areas under the Maharajgunj Distribution Center as part of the Central and North Distribution System Strengthening Project in the Kathmandu Valley. To facilitate underground distribution system work, power will be cut from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Affected areas include Baluwatar, Shivapuri School, Pandol Marg and the Prime Minister’s residence from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Power cuts will also take place in Hepali Height, Chyasingdol, Deurali Janta, Bhagwati Mandir and Dhapsaligyat areas.

Similarly, electricity will be disrupted in Banshidhar Marg, Chandol, Bishal Nagar, Central Apartments and Tundal Devi Mandir areas from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

The NEA has urged consumers to make necessary arrangements during the scheduled outages.
