Damak UML youth chair quits party and joins Balen Shah campaign

DAMAK: Youth support has begun to grow in Jhapa for Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) senior leader Balen Shah, who is contesting the House of Representatives election from Jhapa-5.

On Wednesday morning, Chhabi Khatiwada, chair of the CPN-UML-affiliated National Youth Federation, Damak municipal committee, publicly extended his support to Balen, distancing himself from the UML.

Through a social media post, Khatiwada announced that he had chosen to stand for change and would actively participate in Balen’s election campaign. Posting Balen’s photo on Facebook, he wrote that from January 21, he had resigned from the post of municipal chair of the National Youth Federation and relinquished his membership of CPN-UML to support Balen’s candidacy in Jhapa-5 and continue his political journey independently.

Balen, who resigned from the post of Kathmandu Metropolitan City mayor to contest the election from Jhapa-5 against CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, has begun meeting voters since early Wednesday morning as part of his campaign.
