KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has formally begun work toward implementing the “right to recall” provision, the party said.
Speaking after the party’s Secretariat meeting held at its central office in Baneshwor on Sunday, spokesperson Jagadish Kharel said the meeting discussed the search and rescue efforts and relief operations following the Bhotekoshi flood, among other issues.
According to Kharel, the party has already formed a committee led by General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya to work on the “right to recall” issue that it has been raising. He said the party plans to implement the provision beginning with the largest party.
RSP’s public activities, which had been suspended following the Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa on Bhadra 10, resumed from Sunday.
Kharel said party chair Rabi Lamichhane stressed the need to strengthen coordination and relations between the party and the government.
The meeting also discussed criticism and abusive comments on social media when the party raises questions about the government. According to Kharel, Lamichhane urged people not to engage in abuse on social media simply because the government is questioned in Parliament.
Kharel said the Nepal Police Cyber Bureau, the agency responsible for investigating cybercrime and abusive activities on social media, should be carrying out the necessary investigations.
