KANCHANPUR: Women from Bhimdatta Municipality-19, Bagfanta, who had gone inside Shuklaphanta National Park to collect mushrooms and went out of contact, have been found safe.
The women were located after a search operation led by the Nepal Army. They had been missing since Sunday.
Chief of Ranasingh Dal Battalion, Major Prakash Ghimire, who is deployed for the security of Shuklaphanta National Park, confirmed that the women had returned to contact with their families.
“Search operations were intensified by mobilising all available mechanisms inside the park,” Ghimire said. “We received information a short while ago that they are in contact with their families and are safe.”
Meanwhile, three women from Bedkot Rural Municipality-2, who had also gone missing inside the park since Sunday evening, were rescued by a team led by Army officer Lieutenant Suman Giri.
The women were safely rescued on Monday morning and handed over to their families.
Following reports of three separate groups of women going missing while entering the park to collect mushrooms illegally, the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, municipal police, and park administration had launched a joint search operation.
