Moderate to heavy rainfall likely today



KATHMANDU: Monsoon conditions continue to affect the country, with the monsoon trough currently positioned north of its average location, according to the Weather Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The Division said that most parts of the country remain generally cloudy. Moderate to heavy rainfall is occurring at some places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces, and at a few places in Sudurpaschim Province.

This afternoon, skies are expected to remain generally cloudy across the country. There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places in the mountainous region. Many hilly areas are also likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning.

Similarly, moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely at many places across the Terai of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at some places in Madhesh Province.

Heavy rainfall is possible at a few locations in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at one or two places in the hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy throughout the country. Moderate to heavy rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at some places in the mountainous region.

Moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning is also expected at many places in the hilly and Terai regions of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at some places in the hilly areas of Karnali Province. Heavy rainfall is possible at one or two places in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
