We are committed to democracy: RSP Chair Lamichhane

CHITWAN: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane has said that the party will never deviate from democratic values.

Speaking at a meeting held on Saturday ahead of the party’s general convention, Lamichhane reaffirmed the party’s commitment to federal democratic republicanism.

He said the party stands on the foundation laid by those who contributed to bringing the country to its current constitutional system, adding that RSP takes pride in the ongoing political transformation.

“We are at the threshold of this transformation with pride. We will not deviate from democracy,” he said.

Lamichhane also stressed the importance of strengthening internal democracy within political parties, warning that failure to do so could lead to serious consequences.

He noted that political instability within parties can be more damaging than crises in households or society, urging leaders and cadres to remain cautious in their actions.

Calling for responsible political conduct, he instructed party members to present themselves as accountable citizens regardless of their roles and to avoid unhealthy competition.

He expressed confidence that the upcoming party convention would help make the organization more systematic and dynamic.
