KATHMANDU: Monsoon conditions are currently affecting parts of Koshi Province, while local and easterly winds are influencing weather patterns across the rest of the country, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.
The Division said the weather is generally cloudy in Koshi Province and in the hilly and mountainous regions of other provinces, while most Terai areas remain mainly clear. Light rainfall is being recorded at a few locations in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous areas nationwide, as well as in the Terai region of Koshi Province. Madhesh Province will experience partly cloudy conditions, while the remaining Terai areas are likely to remain mostly clear.
There is a possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at several places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi Province and at a few locations in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Isolated rainfall is also likely in the hilly and mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Similarly, rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected at some locations in the Terai region of Koshi Province and at one or two places in Madhesh Province. Heavy rainfall may occur at isolated locations in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi Province.
The Division has also warned of possible heatwave conditions in some parts of the Terai region of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, while hot weather conditions may persist in parts of the Terai areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the Terai region of Koshi Province. Madhesh Province and other hilly and mountainous regions are likely to experience partly cloudy conditions, while the remaining Terai areas will remain mainly clear.
There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at several places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces and at isolated locations in the mountainous regions of Lumbini and Karnali provinces. Similar weather activity is likely at some places in the Terai of Koshi Province and at one or two locations in Madhesh Province.
The Division has further forecast the possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated locations in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces, as well as in parts of the Terai region of Koshi Province.
