Nepal edge Malaysia by two wickets in first Women’s T20I



KATHMANDU: Nepal registered a hard-fought two-wicket victory over Malaysia in the first Women’s T20 International being played as part of preparations for the Asian Games.

Chasing a modest target of 68 runs, Nepal reached 68/8 in 17.3 overs to seal the win.

Samjhana Khadka top-scored for Nepal with 32 runs, while Rubi Poddar contributed 15 runs. Kabita Joshi added six runs to the total.

For Malaysia, Nur Kalisa claimed three wickets, conceding 21 runs in her four-over spell. Aisya Elisa and Elsa Hunter picked up two wickets each.

Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, Malaysia were bowled out for 67 runs in 16.5 overs.

Elsa Hunter was the top scorer for Malaysia with 10 runs. Captain Mas Elisa made eight runs, while Mahirah Izzati and Erdina Bell scored seven runs each.

For Nepal, Pooja Mahato delivered an impressive spell, taking three wickets for 13 runs in four overs.

Riya Sharma and Manisha Upadhyay grabbed two wickets each, while Kabita Kunwar and Sita Rana Magar claimed one wicket apiece.
