RSP Central Committee meeting begins in Baneshwar, leadership reshuffle likely

KATHMANDU: The Central Committee meeting of the Rastriya Swatantra Party has begun at the party’s central office in Banastali, Kathmandu.

According to party spokesperson Manish Jha, the meeting started at around 3:45 PM on Monday.

Party chairperson Rabi Lamichhane is present in the meeting, while senior leader Balen Shah is not attending, party sources said.

The meeting is expected to assign new organizational responsibilities following the appointment of some leaders to federal government positions. Preparations are also underway to appoint Bhupdev Shah, a close aide of Balen Shah during his tenure as Kathmandu mayor, as the new general secretary.

The party has directed all office bearers and central members to attend the meeting mandatorily.

Earlier on Sunday, the party’s Secretariat meeting had discussed organisational responsibilities of House of Representatives members, technical support for the parliamentary party, and issues related to party levies.

That meeting had also deliberated on district convention procedures, central commissions, advisory council, federal leadership forum, departmental nominations, and the formation of a drafting committee for the general convention procedures.

The current Central Committee meeting is expected to endorse the decisions and proposals forwarded by the Secretariat.
