Rabi Lamichhane reacts after Parsa court sets Rs 10 million bail in cooperative fraud case

KATHMANDU: The Parsa District Court has ordered the release of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chair Rabi Lamichhane on a bail of Rs 10 million in connection with a cooperative fraud case.

Following the court order on Tuesday, Lamichhane responded through a social media post, stating that although the country is in an election atmosphere and nomination-related activities are underway, he has been unable to fully participate due to ongoing legal proceedings.

He said hearings related to his cases were being held on the same day at courts in Parsa, Kathmandu, and Rupandehi. Sharing an update after leaving the Parsa court, Lamichhane mentioned that supporters were waiting for him in Chitwan–2 and that he was making efforts to be present personally for nomination registration if time permitted. Otherwise, he said, the nomination would be filed through a legal representative.

Claiming that he has been subjected to injustice and persecution, Lamichhane wrote that the Nepali people would deliver their verdict on these actions through the ballot on March 5. He also denied having any connection with cooperatives and alleged that cases had been filed against him without evidence.
Concluding his post, Lamichhane stated that he was “not Abhimanyu,” signaling that he would not retreat from political or legal battles.

Cooperative fraud cases against Lamichhane are currently under consideration in courts across five districts.
