Hotter plains, light showers in hill regions expected today



KATHMANDU: Temperatures are expected to rise in the Terai districts of Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces even as light rainfall and thunderstorms are forecast in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the hilly and mountainous areas of Madhesh Province and other provinces will witness partly cloudy conditions, while most Terai regions are likely to remain mainly clear.

The Department has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall and snowfall at some places in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi Province.

There is also a possibility of light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at one or two places in the Terai regions of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in other hilly and mountainous areas. Temperatures are expected to rise in the Terai regions of Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces.

Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, while other hilly and mountainous regions will remain partly cloudy. The remaining Terai regions are likely to experience mainly fair weather.

The Department has also predicted light rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces tonight.
