Kathmandu Police urge public not to spread misleading content using AI

KATHMANDU: The District Police Range Kathmandu has urged the public not to disseminate misleading, fabricated and baseless information on social media using artificial intelligence (AI).

Issuing a statement on Thursday, the police said serious attention has been drawn to the recent trend of circulating distorted and unverified content online, and requested users to refrain from such activities.

According to police, a vehicle driver who assaulted and mistreated a pedestrian along the Ring Road section at Narayangopal Chowk in Maharajgunj has been immediately taken into custody. Legal proceedings against the accused are currently underway.

The Kathmandu police objected to the circulation of manipulated photos, videos and other misleading information related to the incident by various social media users, stating that the facts of the case had been distorted.

Spokesperson of the Kathmandu police and Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai issued the statement, urging responsible use of social media platforms.
