HoR polls: EC issues Temporary Voter List Procedure 2082

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has issued the Temporary Voter List Procedure, 2082 to streamline the collection of temporary voter lists and facilitate voting under the proportional representation system for House of Representatives (HoR) elections.

The procedure has been introduced under Section 44 of the Voter List Act, 2073. In accordance with the new guidelines, the Commission will publish a public notice outlining the schedule for collecting temporary voter details. The notice will be disseminated through national-level media as required.

As per the procedure, the temporary voter list will include government employees working under the Government of Nepal, provincial and local governments, as well as personnel from government-owned or government-controlled organizations.

Members of the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, detainees and prisoners, election staff and security personnel deployed for election duties, along with chiefs and office-bearers of constitutional bodies, will also be eligible for inclusion.

The Commission has further stated that individuals whose names are missing from the voter list or whose details contain errors must submit an application, along with supporting documents, to the Chief District Election Officer to have their names included or corrected.
