DANG: Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Chet Narayan Acharya has stressed the need for coordination and collaboration among all three tiers of government for the effective implementation of the Constitution.
Speaking at a sanitation programme held at the provincial administrative premises in Deukhuri on the eve of Constitution Day today, Chief Minister Acharya said the constitutional rights granted to the provincial and local levels have yet to be fully devolved. He urged the federal government to address the gaps in the implementation of these provisions.
He stressed that the federal government should take the initiative to transfer the rights of the provincial and local governments as provided for by the Constitution.
“The constitutional rights must be implemented to ensure the full realization of the federal democratic republic,” he said.
On the occasion, Acharya paid tribute to all known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Constitution and the democratic system. He also paid respect to those injured during such movements.
The Lumbini Province government has decided to observe Constitution Day, which falls on September 19, by organizing various programmes today and tomorrow, according to Province Chief Secretary Binod Bahadur Kunwar.
