KATHMANDU: Several parts of the country are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall today, with thunder and lightning expected in many hilly areas, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.
Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at many places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and at some places in the hilly areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.
Similarly, light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in the Tarai region. Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the country is currently under the influence of monsoon winds, with a partial influence of westerly winds. The monsoon trough is currently positioned south of its normal location.
