Heavy rainfall predicted in some places today



KATHMANDU: Heavy rainfall has been forecast in a few places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, most places in the hilly regions and some places in the Tarai are likely to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning today. There is also a possibility of storms in the Tarai belt of Koshi Province and some places in Madhes Province.

The monsoon is currently active across the country. The monsoon low-pressure belt is located around its average position in the east and to the north of its average position in the west, near Nepal. This weather system is currently causing rainfall in the western parts of the country.

The weather will remain generally cloudy across the country today. Some mountainous areas are likely to receive light to moderate rain or snowfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning.

The weather service has also forecast moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning in a few places in Madhes Province tonight. Similar weather conditions are expected in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
