Kathmandu Valley sees record LPG sales on Monday

KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has reported the highest gas sales in the Kathmandu Valley on Monday (August 17).

According to NOC, as many as 52,576 LPG cylinders were sold in the Kathmandu Valley alone on Monday. Similarly, 75,158 cylinders were sold in districts outside the Valley.

Gas sales on Monday increased significantly compared to previous days. Binitmani Upadhyay, director of Nepal Oil Corporation, said the gas shortage witnessed in the market in recent days is gradually easing. The Corporation said the shortage is expected to decrease further as the supply and distribution of LPG improve.

The NOC had earlier announced that the sale and distribution of liquefied petroleum (LP) gas for cooking will resume through authorized dealers from Monday.

Issuing a notice on Sunday, the Corporation said that from August 17, LPG will be sold and distributed through the regular system by dealers appointed by the respective gas industries.

The Corporation has also urged consumers in need of LPG cylinders to contact dealers of their choice and purchase gas through the regular distribution network. NOC has also issued a five-point directive aimed at making LPG distribution more systematic and effective.

Under the new arrangement, gas industries must provide the corporation with daily details of their appointed sellers and distributors, along with the number of cylinders sold, by 9 am each day.
