Anbukhaireni Rural Municipality chief urges finance minister to include development projects in upcoming budget



KATHMANDU: Chairperson of Anbukhaireni Rural Municipality, Shukra Chuman Chettri, has urged Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle to include several development projects from Tanahun in the national budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27.

During a meeting with the finance minister, Chuman presented a list of priority projects and requested budget allocations for sectors including roads, bridges, religious tourism, health, education and drinking water.

He proposed upgrading the Chhimkeshwori–Hilekhark–Bandipur road with a budget of Rs 300 million and allocating Rs 200 million for the Baradi–Hilekhark road section from Giranchaur to Sate. He also requested Rs 500 million for the construction of a road connecting Puljip and Ghumaune to Devghat, along with Rs 100 million for maintenance of the Anbukhaireni ring road.

Regarding bridge construction, Chuman requested that the Ghumaune bridge be completed in the upcoming fiscal year. He also proposed moving forward with the construction of a concrete bridge at Baralungbensi and replacing a deteriorating suspension bridge at Panchkilo with a new motorable bridge. He informed the minister that around Rs 80 million would be required to construct a motorable bridge over the Sirdi Khola along the Chhimkeshwori road section.

Chuman also requested funding to promote religious tourism. He proposed allocating Rs 100 million for the development of the Chhimkeshwori area, Rs 50 million for the Akala area and another Rs 50 million for the Andhimul area.

In the health sector, he informed the minister that 10 ropani of land has already been secured at Satrasaya in Ward No. 1 for a hospital and that the area could be expanded up to 100 ropani. He requested budget support to establish a 100-bed trauma hospital at the site. According to him, the location along the Prithvi Highway could provide medical services to residents of Tanahun District, Gorkha District and Lamjung District.

In the education sector, the rural municipality has proposed establishing a polytechnic institute and launching postgraduate programmes at Anbukhaireni Campus. Chuman also requested budget allocations to provide electric buses, hostels and modern laboratories in schools.

Similarly, he proposed allocating Rs 100 million for the Hilekhark–Chhimkeshwori–Loprang integrated drinking water project and Rs 50 million for the Satrasaya drinking water purification project.
