Bagmati Province collects Rs 27.93 billion revenue in nine months

KATHMANDU: The Bagmati Province Government has collected public revenue worth Rs 27.93 billion in the first nine months of the current fiscal year, achieving 41.40 percent of its annual target.

House and land registration fees and vehicle taxes remain the main sources of revenue for the provincial government.

According to Indraraj Sanjyal, the government had set a target of collecting Rs 30.89 billion from Shrawan (mid-July 2025) to Chaitra (mid-April 2026) in the fiscal year 2082/83.

However, only 55.07 percent of the target under house and land registration and vehicle tax has been achieved so far, with revenue amounting to Rs 17.01 billion collected during the period.

Under house and land registration alone, the provincial government had set a target of collecting Rs 7.70 billion in the current fiscal year. Of that amount, only Rs 3.52 billion has been collected in the first nine months.

Similarly, the province had estimated Rs 8.25 billion in revenue from vehicle-related taxes—including vehicle inspection passes, route permits, and the issuance and renewal of driving licences—for the fiscal year 2082/83. So far, Rs 5.06 billion has been collected under this heading.

Officials say house and land registration fees and vehicle taxes continue to be the primary revenue sources for the provincial government.
