Authorities penalize companies over trading irregularities



KATHMANDU: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has fined three companies for alleged irregularities in the trade of food and daily consumer goods.

The Department imposed a fine on Ektagram Store in Mahalaxmi Municipality-7, Changathali. Similarly, Kirana Ghar Traders & Suppliers in Babbarmahal and Ganapati Traders & Suppliers, also in Babbarmahal, were each fined Rs 5,000.

According to the Department, the action was taken under the Consumer Protection Act, 2075. It has also issued corrective instructions to 19 other firms.

The Department said it has been intensifying monitoring efforts in recent days to curb illegal trading practices.
