Banepa tense after scooter rider killed in tipper collision



KATHMANDU: Tension erupted in Banepa, Kavrepalanchok, on Wednesday morning after a scooter rider died after being hit by a tipper truck.

According to Kavre Police, tipper with registration number Bagmati Province 01004 Ka 3423 struck scooter number Bagmati Province 02–063 Pa 9189. The scooter rider died in the incident. Police have sent the body to the hospital, and the identity of the deceased male has yet to be confirmed.

Following the incident, angry locals set the tipper on fire, escalating tensions in the area. Police fired several rounds of tear gas to bring the situation under control.

The tipper driver is currently absconding, police said.
After the accident, transportation along the Araniko Highway section passing through Banepa has been disrupted.
