Light rain and snowfall likely in high hilly and mountainous areas



KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the country is currently experiencing partly to generally cloudy conditions due to the partial influence of westerly winds.

At present, fog has been observed in some areas of the Terai. The high hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces are partly cloudy, while the weather remains mainly clear in other parts of the country.

According to the Department, there is a possibility of mist and fog in some parts of the Terai this afternoon. The hilly and mountainous areas of Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy.

The Terai regions and the remaining hilly and mountainous areas, including Lumbini Province, will see partly cloudy conditions, while the weather will remain mainly clear elsewhere.

There is also a possibility of light rain or snowfall at one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Tonight, fog is likely to persist in some parts of the Terai. Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy, while the remaining high hilly and mountainous areas will be partly cloudy. The weather will be mainly clear in other regions.

The Department has forecast light rain or snowfall at some places in the mountainous areas of Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, and light rain at one or two places in the hilly regions.

It has urged all concerned to remain alert, as fog in the Terai and light rain or snowfall in the mountainous areas may affect daily life and transportation.
