NEPSE surges 79 points on first trading day of new fiscal year



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index posted a strong gain on the first trading day of the new fiscal year, rising by 79.74 points to close at 2,677.54.

According to the Nepal Stock Exchange, the Sensitive Index, which tracks the performance of blue-chip companies, increased by 11.51 points to 468.38. Likewise, the Float Index climbed 5.45 points to 184.03, while the Sensitive Float Index advanced 4.13 points to 158.56.

A total of 13.89 million shares of various listed companies were traded through transactions worth Rs 4.58 billion during the day’s trading.

Among the 13 sectoral indices, 12 ended in positive territory, while only one sector closed lower. Share prices of 259 listed companies increased, 13 declined, and two remained unchanged.

According to NEPSE, investors in Srinagar Agritech Industries, Suryakunda Hydropower, and Shikhar Power Development were among the top gainers. Meanwhile, investors in Atmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, First Microfinance Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, and RBB Mutual Fund recorded losses during the session.
