KATHMANDU: A teacher has filed a petition at the Ministry of Communication demanding a ban on the song ‘Tarabaji Lai Lai’ featured in singer and artist Durgesh Thapa’s upcoming film ‘Masterni’.
Teacher Ramesh Bahadur Bhattarai of Barahi Secondary School in Vyas Municipality-11, Tanahun, submitted the petition to the ministry on Friday, seeking immediate restriction on the song’s release.
Bhattarai claimed that the song has harmed the dignity of the teaching profession and the entire teaching community, particularly women teachers.
In the petition addressed to the ministry secretary, he stated that the lyrics of the song are disrespectful and inappropriate towards teachers and could negatively affect the image of the profession.
The petition also argues that the song contains content that undermines the honour of the teaching profession and promotes messages against Nepali cultural values.
Bhattarai has requested the ministry to take immediate action and ban the song.
