Pradip Paudel alleges PM intentionally ignored Parliament, says opposition must not remain silent

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress General Secretary Pradip Paudel has alleged that Prime Minister Balendra Shah deliberately ignored Parliament and that the opposition should not remain silent on the issue.

Speaking at an interaction programme organized by the Society of Democratic Thinking in Kathmandu on Sunday, Paudel said a government that comes to power with strong public trust must not allow public confidence to erode by facing repeated questions and controversies.

He further accused the prime minister of knowingly sidelining Parliament, saying the conduct was not merely due to inexperience but appeared to be intentional.

Paudel warned that if the government is not kept within democratic limits in time, democratic values and systems could face serious challenges. He added that a state with weakened democratic character ultimately causes hardship for citizens.

While clarifying that the Congress does not want the government to fail, he said the opposition cannot remain silent if any attempt is made to weaken democracy.

He reiterated that the Nepali Congress would continue to stand in defense of democratic values and constitutional processes.
