Rain and thunderstorms expected across multiple provinces



KATHMANDU: Parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are expected to witness moderate rainfall and thunderstorms today as changing weather patterns triggered by westerly winds continue to affect the country.

The Weather Forecasting Division said the weather will remain generally to fully cloudy in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, while the remaining areas will experience partly cloudy conditions.

There is a possibility of moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi Province and at some places in Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.

Similarly, thunder and lightning are likely at one or two places in the hilly regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in Madhesh Province and parts of the Terai in Koshi Province. The Division has urged people to remain cautious, as strong winds are also likely in some Terai areas of Madhesh and Koshi provinces.

The weather office has further stated that temperatures may rise in some parts of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, while Karnali and Madhesh provinces are likely to witness partly cloudy conditions. The remaining hilly and Terai regions are expected to remain mostly clear.

There is also a possibility of light rainfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in Koshi Province and at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. The Division has again advised the public to take necessary precautions against possible windstorms in some Terai areas.
